> Associating Fields with an Entity or Class

Fields associated with a class appear only when the class has been specified in the regular class field. Fields associated with an entity (class is *) always appear on screens based on that entity, whether or not a class has been specified.

Follow these steps to associate fields with an entity or class.

  1. Open the Custom fields and list of values form (BXPROM).

  2. Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.

  3. Click to query for the entity to which to associate the custom field.

  4. Click the Custom fields tab. Datastream 7i displays the Custom fields page.

  2. Not updateable—Select when Datastream 7i retrieves values from the category of data instead of from the data itself.

  3. Click Quick select to view all prompts that have not been associated to the entity. Datastream 7i displays the Custom fields dialog box listing all the unattached properties.

  4. Click Select all to attach all the listed properties to the entity or select Select to attach individual properties. Click Unselect all to remove them.

  5. Click OK. Datastream 7i returns to the Custom fields and list of values form.
