Define user codes as synonyms of system codes to tailor Datastream 7i to the organization. Defining user codes is a convenient method for extending the lifecycle of data by one or more steps. For example, you can create two steps for purchase order approval. First, the project manager approves the purchase order, and then the financial director gives final approval. Only the latter step relates to the system-approved status (A). After the second step approval, the organization can receive items on this purchase order.
To view a list of current user codes in Datastream 7i, run the List of Datastream 7i codes report (BRUCOL).

Datastream strongly recommends creating new classes, rather than user codes, to subdivide Type entities when possible. |
