Set group-level permissions for data manipulation.
|
Because even the system administrator can be locked out of Datastream 7i, it is important to allow at least one other person, in addition to the system administrator, permission to the Users form (BMUSER) |
Follow these steps to set group-level permissions.
Open the User groups form (BMGROU).
Query for the user group for which to define permissions.
Click the Authorization tab. Datastream 7i displays the Authorization page.
Function—Click to select a function for which to define group permissions.
Select one or more of the following attribute options:
Query—Select to allow users to retrieve data from the database.
Update—Select to allow users to update data previously retrieved from the database. Users must have query permission to update database information.
Insert—Select to allow users to insert new data into the database.
Delete—Select to allow users to delete data from the database. Users must have query permission to delete data from the database.
|
If you are unable to select any of these check boxes, verify that you have permission by accessing the Record view page of the Functions form (BMFUNC) for the selected function, and then verify that the corresponding check boxes are selected. If you did not select any of these check boxes on BMFUNC, you cannot select them on BMGROU. |
|
These attributes do not necessarily apply to all fields for a specific function. |
System query—Click to select a filter to assign to this function for the user group.
Override—Select to enable users to override the system query.
Input filter—Select to restrict users from entering new records or changing existing records that do not meet system filter criteria.
Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
|
If you define permissions for non-public functions, you enable access to the function. For public functions, you cannot revoke access, but you can set different permissions for a particular group. |
