Set group-level tab permissions for functions by defining data-manipulation privileges and selecting whether to display tabs for specific user groups. Set permissions for querying, updating, inserting, and deleting records on specific tabs of forms. You can also hide tabs altogether from users within a user group.
Follow these steps to set group-level tab permissions.
Open the User groups form (BMGROU).
Query for the user group for which to set group-level tab permissions.
Click the Authorization tab. Datastream 7i displays the Authorization page with all functions defined for the group in the top section.
Function—Click to select the function for which to set group-level tab permissions. Datastream 7i displays all tabs defined for the function in the bottom section.
Tab name—Click to select the tab for which to set group-level tab permissions, and then select one or more of the following attribute options:
Query—Select to allow users to search for information on this tab.
Update—Select to allow users to update records on this tab.
Insert—Select to allow users to enter new records on this tab.
Delete—Select to allow users to remove records on this tab.
Display—Unselect to hide this tab and its contents from all users in the user group. Selecting Display allows users in the user group to view this tab for this function.
These attributes do not necessarily apply to all fields on a specific tab.
Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
