> Assigning Warranty Documents

Automatically assign specific warranty document values to specific equipment attributes to establish a relationship between warranties and profiles in the data collection module. You can only assign warranty documents if you have purchased the data collection module.

Follow these steps to assign warranty documents.

  1. Open the Documents form (BMDOCU).

  2. Query to select the document to associate with a warranty.

  3. Click the Matrix tab. Datastream 7i displays the Matrix page.

  4. Column—Click to select the equipment attribute.

  5. Operator—Click to select the criteria by which to automatically assign warranty information.

   Use the operators to assign automatic warranty coverage to equipment you created on the Equipment form (OMOBJC). For example, assign warranty coverage to a department with the value ABC. Then assign a location value of File Cabinet 4. HVAC warranty coverage will now only be assigned to equipment assigned to the department ABC located in File Cabinet 4.

  1. Value—Click to select the corresponding value for that column.

  2. Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.

  To save time, copy criteria sets to and from other warranties. In the field adjacent to Copy from and Copy to, enter the warranty code from which to copy assignment details, and then click the appropriate button. Datastream 7i transfers the warranty assignment.
