Create warranty claims for a work order activity when warranty coverage is only applicable to a specific activity on a work order. If you associated VMRS codes with warranty documents, Datastream 7i also enables you to create warranty claims for activities associated with VMRS codes for which you have associated warranty coverage.
If Warranty is selected on a work order header, Datastream 7i considers the warranty to be applicable to each activity on the work order as well. You can select or unselect Warranty for any activity on a work order to indicate whether warranty coverage is applicable to the activity.
Follow these steps to create warranty claims for a work order activity.
Open the Warranty claims form (OMCLAI).
Click the WOs under warranty tab. Datastream 7i displays the WOs under warranty page.
Choose one of the following options:
No claim—Select to display a list of work orders for which some or all activities on the work order are covered by a warranty and for which there are no active warranty claims.
All—Select to display a list of all work orders containing at least one activity that is covered by a warranty.
Datastream 7i retrieves a list of work orders and activities based on the selected display option.
Warranty is selected for each work order and/or activity that is associated with a warranty. Unselect Warranty to indicate that the work order and/or activity are not warranty-related.

If you unselect Warranty for a work order or activity, Datastream 7i also unselects Warranty on the work order record and will no longer display the work order or activity on the WOs under warranty tab. |
Select the work order for which to create an activity claim. Datastream 7i displays the activities for the work order in the lower section.
Select the activity for which to create the warranty claim, and then click Create activity claim. Datastream 7i copies the information from the selected activity to the Record view page and displays the Record view page.
Datastream 7i retrieves any VMRS codes associated with the warranty that covers the selected activity and displays them in System level, Assembly level, and Component level. Datastream 7i also displays the Description of the lowest-level VMRS code association.

Datastream 7i only accrues the costs for the selected activity to the claim. |
Enter the remaining information for the activity claim as necessary.
Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i generates a claim number and saves the information to the database.
