Asset profiles act as data templates, providing critical data for similar equipment so that you do not have to manually enter the data for each piece of equipment. You can apply asset profiles to new assets using a barcode scanner or with the Equipment (OMOBJC) or Parts (SMPART) forms.
Profiles are much more than reusable equipment functions. Profiles contain custom attributes, parts associated, documents associated, permits, and addresses. Carefully consider all the information needed to create an asset profile.
When you associate a piece of equipment to a profile, Datastream 7i applies all profile information, except Type and Status, as default information. Change this default information in the individual equipment records as necessary.
|
Asset profiles are often available from the vendor of the asset. The information is often in a barcode format on the asset itself, making it even easier to add it to the system. |
Follow these steps to define asset profiles.
Open Equipment profile form (TMPROF).
Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.
Profile—Enter a unique code identifying the profile, and then enter a description of the profile in the adjacent field. This code cannot be the same as any equipment code.
|
All profiles created on the Equipment profile form belong to the common organization (*). Therefore, if you create an equipment profile and associate a part to the profile, the part also belongs to the common organization. |
Department—Click to select the profile’s department.
Class—Click to select the class of the profile.
Category—Click to select the profile’s category.
Store—Click to select the profile’s store.
Meter unit—Click to select the profile’s primary unit of measure.
Cost—Enter the cost of the profile.
Part—Click to select the profile’s part number, if applicable.
Manufacturer—Click to select the profile’s manufacturer.
Model—Enter the profile’s model number.
Revision—Enter the revision number of the model, if applicable.
Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
