> Defining Warranty Terms

Define warranty terms based on either calendar periods or equipment usage, or you can create warranties that are based upon dual expiration criteria. If you specify dual expiration criteria for a warranty, Datastream 7i terminates the warranty whenever any one aspect of the expiration criteria is met.

However, during the warranty’s valid period, Datastream 7i automatically selects Warranty for the equipment whenever a work order is created or generated using the Work orders form (WMJOBS), the Rapid work order/request entry form (WMFLOG), the Work requests form (WMWREQ), the Quick work orders form (WMVITE), the Services page of the Requisitions form (SMREQS), the Services tab of the Purchase orders form (PMPORD), and the Create WO button on the Equipment hierarchy page of the Equipment form (OMOBJC). Also, whenever a work order is created for a piece of equipment for which there is an active warranty on any of the previously mentioned forms, Datastream 7i displays a message indicating that an active warranty exists for the equipment.

When defining warranty terms, you must specify a Start date for the warranty to activate it. If no Start date is specified for the warranty, Datastream 7i considers the warranty expired.

Generate an Expired warranties report (WRERRF) to view a list of all expired warranties.
