> Replacing Child Equipment

When repairing equipment, use either spares that are still in store (Purchased/In store) or spares that have already been issued (Installed). When you use a spare that is still in store, its status changes from Purchased/In store to Installed. In this case, Datastream 7i generates a store transaction record and an event automatically. When you use an issued spare, Datastream 7i creates an event but no store transaction. When replacing a part tracked by asset, Datastream 7i automatically issues the spare part from the bin location and lot assignment of the equipment with which the tracked part is associated. The part that is replaced will be returned to the bin location of the equipment with which the part is associated, but it will keep its lot assignment.

If the replaced equipment is a repairable spare and you select For repair, Datastream 7i increases the quantity to be repaired on the stock record and changes the equipment’s status, and the status of any dependent children, to To be repaired.

Meter associations do not transfer from one child piece of equipment to another.

Follow these steps to replace child equipment.

  1. Open the Child equipment replacement form (ODROTA).

  2. Query for the equipment to replace.

  3. Standard work order—Click to select the standard work order setup to replace the child equipment or to repair the equipment if For repair is selected.

If For repair is selected, Datastream 7i will create a work order of Type RP (Repairable spare).

You cannot select a standard work order template for Standard work order.

  1. Parent WO—Click to select the parent work order.

  2. Date/time reported—Enter the date and time you began the child equipment replacement.

  3. Create WO before hierarchy change—Select for Datastream 7i to create a work order before the hierarchy change. Unselect for Datastream 7i to create a work order after the hierarchy change.

  4. New—Click to select the equipment number of the child replacement.

  5. For repair—Select to indicate that the equipment should be repaired.

You can select For repair only if the equipment is a repairable spare, i.e., Repairable spare is selected on the Parts form (SMPART).

  1. Click Replace. Datastream 7i replaces the child equipment with the new equipment.

If no spare code is specified and Delete is clicked, Datastream 7i unlinks the parent equipment and child equipment.
