> Updating the Closing Details for Warranty Claims

Update the Closing Details for warranty claims when you receive a response from the payer for the claim. When you select Response received as the claim status, Datastream 7i populates the Closing Details for the claim with the Claim Details values.

The actual amount paid for a claim is often different than the anticipated payment based on the specified coverage percentages for a warranty. You can update the Closing Details for the claim to indicate the actual amount paid for each category. However, you can only update the Closing Details while the claim status is Response received.

Follow these steps to update the closing details for warranty claims.

  1. Open the Warranty claims form (OMCLAI).

  2. Query for the claim for which to update the closing details.

  3. Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.

  4. Status—Select Response received. Datastream 7i calculates the anticipated reimbursement for each category and populates the values in the Closing Details.

  5. Date resolved—Enter the date that you receive a response for the claim or the date that you consider the claim to be resolved.

  6. Click More. Datastream 7i displays additional fields.

Datastream 7i automatically populates the Closing Details based on the percentages specified for each cost category on the warranty.

Update information in the following fields as necessary.

  1. Labor close—Enter the actual amount paid for labor.

  2. Stock items close—Enter the actual amount paid for stock materials.

  3. Hired labor close—Enter the actual amount paid for externally hired labor.

  4. Direct outs close—Enter the actual amount paid for direct purchase materials.

  5. Services close—Enter the actual amount paid for services.

  6. Tools close—Enter the actual amount paid for tools.

  7. Other costs close—Enter the actual amount paid for miscellaneous costs associated with the work order.

Datastream 7i automatically updates the value of WO claim close and Total claim close as you enter updated closing information. WO claim close indicates the sum of the closing costs for labor, stock items, hired labor, direct outs, services, and tools for the work order. Total claim close indicates the sum of the closing costs for labor, stock items, hired labor, direct outs, services, tools, and other costs for the work order.

  1. Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database
