Datastream 7i defines field help text per language, per function, and per field.
Datastream 7i retrieves help texts in the following order: function-specific, attribute, and entity. Function-specific help relates to the presentation layer, and the field name must include the block prefix. Attribute help relates to the physical (table) layer, and field name is the actual column name. Entity help relates to a logical object, and Datastream 7i only takes the last portion of the column name into account.

Follow these steps to change field help texts.
Open the Help texts form (BNHELP).
Query for the function and field combination for which to change the help text.
Help text—Enter the new help text message.
Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
