Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for the balanced scorecard. For example, define a KPI to measure the number of maintenance dollars spent for a production line during a month.
Select an SQL select statement for the KPI to calculate the current value for the KPI. Select a function for which to enable a hyperlink for the KPI, and then enter a where clause to enable Datastream 7i to automatically query for the records associated with the KPI to the called function. You can also designate whether the KPI is accessible to all users.
Follow these steps to define key performance indicators.
Open the Defining KPI entries form (BMKPIC).
Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.
KPI code—Enter a unique code identifying the KPI, and then enter a description of the KPI in the adjacent field. The description will be displayed for the KPI in the Balanced Scorecard on the Home page.
UOM—Click to select the unit of measure for the KPI.
General—Select to give all user groups access to the KPI.
Parent—Select to indicate the KPI is a parent for other KPI(s).
Maintain history—Select to indicate whether Datastream 7i should track and store all calculations of the selected KPI for KPI history.
Frequency—Enter the frequency in days with which the KPI will be recalculated.
|
You can only enter a value for Frequency for child KPIs. Recalculation of child KPIs automatically triggers recalculation of parent KPIs. |
SQL statement—Click to select the SQL statement to calculate the current value for the KPI. Datastream 7i displays the actual SQL select statement in the adjacent field.
|
SQL select queries can only be associated with KPIs for which Parent has not been selected. |
Function—Click to select the Datastream 7i function for which to enable a hyperlink to call the function for the KPI.
Filter—Enter the where clause used to retrieve records for the called Datastream 7i function.
Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
