> Setting Up Back-end Menus

A back-end menu is a list of Datastream 7i functions linked to a certain form or report. If a function shows more details about another function, place it in the back-end menu to make Datastream 7i easier to use.

You can define only one level using back-end menus.

All back-end menu entries must be functions that you have predefined using the Functions form (BMFUNC).

Set up user groups and permissions before defining menu structures.

Follow these steps to set up back-end menus.

  1. Open the User groups form (BMGROU).

  2. Query for the user group for which to set up a back-end menu.

  3. Click the Menus tab. Datastream 7i displays the Menu page, showing the default first menu. This menu is the root menu: "MENU01 – Main menu."

  4. Main menu—Enter the function for which to set up back-end menus.

  5. Seq—Enter a sequence number to add a new menu. The sequence number determines the order in which Datastream 7i displays functions when users access the back-end menu.

  6. Function—Click to select the function for the menu entry.

  7. Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
