Follow these steps to define suppliers.
Open the Suppliers form (SMSUPP).
Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.
Supplier—Enter a unique code identifying the supplier, and then enter the supplier’s name in the adjacent field.
Class—Click to select the class of the supplier. The classes shown belong to the COMP entity.
Supplier org—Click to select the organization to which the supplier belongs if you use multi-organization security.
Out of service—Select if you do not want the supplier to appear in the list of values for other forms.
Status—Enter a status to categorize suppliers by status. Define the status field for any purpose (e.g., enter AC if the supplier is being actively used). The status is for your informational use only.
Parent—Click to select the parent company. Using the "Parent" attribute, you can indicate whether a supplier is part of a larger organization. The parent company must be created as a parent supplier first. This relationship is for information only.
Language—Click to select the supplier’s language.
Minority group—Click to select the minority group if the supplier belongs to a minority group.
Lead time—Enter the average number of days the supplier needs to provide the ordered goods or services.
Purchase site—Select if you actually purchase goods from this supplier. Unselect if the supplier is a parent supplier. Selecting Purchase site places the supplier into the list of values from which you select suppliers for purchases in the purchasing module.
Capacity—Enter the capacity that a supplier can theoretically supply. The value is used in the Microsoft Project Interface and in Datastream 7i scheduling for global scheduling purposes. The capacity value must be less than 100 (Microsoft Project constraint).
Services—Select if the supplier provides services or if you use Datastream 7i scheduling.
Contact—Enter the primary supplier contact.
Telephone and Fax/telex no—Enter the supplier’s phone and fax numbers.
E-mail address—Enter the supplier’s e-mail address.
Our contact—Click to select the contact, generally the corporate buyer.
Buyer—Click to select the primary buyer for this supplier.
EDI number—Enter the EDI number if the supplier uses an EDI system.
Currency—Click to select the supplier’s currency.
Minimum order value—Enter the minimum order amount.
Maximum order value—Enter the maximum order amount.
FOB point—Click to select the supplier’s free on board shipping point.
Payment terms—Click to select the supplier’s payment terms.
Ship via—Click to select the supplier’s method of shipping.
Freight term—Click to select the supplier’s default freight terms.
Pay by method—Click to select the supplier’s preferred method of payment.

Define purchase order terms on the Purchase orders terms form (PNORDT). Link these default order terms to individual purchase orders on the Clauses page of the Purchase orders form (PMPORD) when necessary. |
Update catalog to Euro—Select to update catalog prices and currencies to the Euro. Datastream 7i asks you to confirm the price update to Euro for this supplier. Click OK. Datastream 7i updates prices and exchange rate changes accordingly. This button appears only if the current supplier contains catalog records with currencies that are to be replaced by the Euro.
Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
