Associate tools with departments.

   Departments do not lend tools. When a tool from one department is used by another department, Datastream 7i tracks the rate in Tariff. Furthermore, you can charge different rates for the same tool, depending upon the department of the worker using the tool.

Follow these steps to associate tools with departments.

  1. Open the Departments form (BNMRCS).

  2. Query for the department for which to associate tools.

  3. Click the Tools tab. Datastream 7i displays the Tools page.

  4. Tools—Click to select the tool.

  5. Quantity—Enter the quantity of the tool that is available.

  6. Tariff—Enter the hourly tariff. The tariff is in the base currency of the system.

  7. Hours—Enter the number of hours this tool is available.

  8. Organization—Click to select the organization to associate to the tool tariff if the organization of the department is common. Datastream 7i displays only those organizations to which you have access. Otherwise, Organization defaults to the organization of the department.

   The Organization determines the price of the tool when used across several organizations. You can only define organizations for tools if the MULTIORG installation parameter is set to YES.

  1. Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
