> Defining Budget Terms

Identify budget terms with a starting date and an ending date. For example, set up a budget term for 6 months, 18 months, or 10 years, depending on the purpose of the budget.

Define calendars (UNCALE) prior to defining budget terms.

If multiple calendars exist, define overlapping budget terms differently. For example, enter 2001-12 indicating the term is for 2001 and is comprised of 12 periods. Enter 2001-04 indicating four periods, one for each fiscal quarter in the term.

Follow these steps to define budget terms.

  1. Open the Budget terms form (UNYEAR).

  2. Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.

  3. Year—Enter a unique code identifying the budget term, and then enter a description of the budget term in the adjacent field.

  4. Organization—Click to select the organization to which the budget term belongs if you use multi-organization security.

  5. Calendar—Click to select the calendar.

  6. Year start—Enter the starting date of the budget term.

  7. Year end—Enter the ending date of the budget term.

  8. Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
