Categories provide a way to further organize pieces of equipment. For example, if a class is defined for motors, create a category for motor types and sizes.

If you created custom attributes for equipment classes, those attributes roll down to the category level and are visible on the Custom fields page. |
Follow these steps to define equipment categories.
Open the Categories of equipment form (OMCATG).
Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.
Category—Enter a unique code identifying the category, and then enter a description of the category in the adjacent field.
Equipment class—Click to select the class of the category. The classes shown belong to the OBJ entity.
Manufacturer—Click to select the manufacturer.
Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
