> Defining Problem Codes

Problem codes identify the observed equipment failure (e.g., a leak from a faucet, overheating of a pump).

Follow these steps to define problem codes.

  1. Open the Problem codes form (ONRECO).

  2. Code—Enter a unique code identifying the maintenance problem.

  3. Description—Enter a description of the maintenance problem.

  4. General—Select to make the problem code available to associate with any equipment class. General problem codes apply to general terms (e.g., hot, cold, noisy, etc.). Unselect to restrict this code for association with specific equipment classes. For example, if a piece of equipment has a leaky pump, you would not associate the "Leak" problem code with a motor. Leak problem codes apply only to equipment of a specific class or category.

  5. Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
