> Defining Tools as Equipment

When linking a tool to a part that is tracked by asset, you are creating tools that can be treated as equipment.

Follow these steps to define tools as equipment.

  1. Create a part with a tool code.

   By asset must be selected for the part.

  1. Open the Equipment form (OMOBJC).

  2. Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.

  3. Query for the equipment to define as a tool or create a new equipment record.

  4. Click More. Datastream 7i displays more information.

  5. Part—Click to select the part to define the tool as a piece of equipment.

  6. Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
