> Defining Functions

Create Oracle Discoverer reports by defining functions in Datastream 7i. Define the function for the DISC class, and then define a workbook and worksheet. A workbook is a Discoverer report and a worksheet is a subreport. Both identify the report to open in Discoverer.

You can define selection parameters for the function on the Report parameters page of the Functions form (BMFUNC) so that when you open the report in Datastream 7i, you can enter information into the selection parameters. Then, Discoverer processes the report when you click .

If you do not define selection parameters, Datastream 7i opens the Discoverer browser and displays the Enter parameters screen when you call the function in Datastream 7i.

Follow these steps to define functions.

  1. Open the Functions form (BMFUNC).

  2. Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.

  3. Function—Enter a unique code identifying the function, and then enter a description of the function in the adjacent field.

  4. Class—Click to select the DISC class.

  5. Workbook—Enter the name of the Discoverer report to associate with the function.

  6. Worksheet—Enter the name of the Discoverer subreport to associate with the function.

  7. Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
