Datastream recommends that you thoroughly plan the organization’s data collection methods prior to configuring the data collection module. Be prepared to brainstorm or consider different scenarios during the planning process for effective data collection implementation with minimal rework. Ensure that you have the following information prior to configuring data collection:
Types, numbers, and uses of equipment, including classes and categories
Parent and child relationships within equipment hierarchies
System security preferences, including users, user groups, and status change authorizations
Work management preferences, including PMs, standard work orders, and repairs
Inventory preferences, including parts organization and numbering schemes
Work order parts issuing and returning procedures
Purchasing, receiving, and returning procedures
