Follow these steps to test scanner prompts.
Start Scanner Simulator by double-clicking the icon on the desktop.
Define the input/output directories for Scanner Simulator in the R5PROMPT.PTH file. For input, you might enter the following directory:
C:\R5PROMPT\INPUT
For output, you might enter the following directory:
C:\R5PROMPT\OUTPUT
Start Scanner Simulator. Scanner Simulator displays a menu of the scanner transactions you created.
Enter the menu number for the transaction type to run.
Scanner Simulator displays the name of the transaction at the top of the screen. It then displays the first prompt with a highlighted field indicating the prompt response.
Each time you provide a prompt value, the system scrolls to the next prompt. It displays the most recent prompt answered as well as the current prompt.
At the bottom of the screen, Scanner Simulator displays three function key options:
F1—Press to use the value from the previous record provided for the prompt.
F2—Press for the system to backup and display the previous prompt.
F5—Press to exit to the main menu.
