Transfer parts from store to store without requisitioning them.
Transfers using the Store-to-store transfers form (SDSTOR) never achieve in-transit status. Since this tracking feature is not used for this type of transfer, Store to store (SDSTOR) transfers should be reserved for very quick material movements. Quantities available both in the sending and receiving warehouses are adjusted immediately after Datastream 7i saves the transaction.
When you transfer parts from store to store, Datastream 7i creates a stock record for the transferred part in the receiving store for which the price type defaults to the price type of the receiving store. By default, the price type for a store is defined by the PRICETYP installation parameter; however, you can modify the price type for each store as necessary.
To transfer parts tracked by asset, you must create asset lines for the total number of the parts to transfer and then assign assets to each of the created asset lines on the Select multiple assets form (SLOBJP). Selecting previously defined equipment overwrites any equipment information, e.g., bin, lot, equipment type, entered manually.

If you are using multi-organization security, you can transfer parts between stores within the same organization without requisitions using the Store-to-store transfers form (SDSTOR). However, if you wish to transfer a part tracked by asset between organizations, use the By asset part transfer form (SXTRAS). |
Follow these steps to transfer parts without requisitions.
Open the Store-to-store transfers form (SDSTOR).
Transaction—Enter a description of the transaction in the adjacent field. Datastream 7i assigns a transaction number after you save the record.
Organization—Click to select the organization to which the transaction belongs if you use multi-organization security.
From store—Click to select the store from which to transfer parts.
To store—Click to select the store to which to transfer parts.
Part—Click to select the part to transfer.
|
By asset is selected for all parts tracked by asset. |
For repair—Select to transfer parts that need repair.
|
Repairable spares that are already assigned to repair requisitions cannot be transferred. |
Quantity—Enter the number of parts to transfer.
If Quantity is greater than 1 for a part tracked by asset, click Asset lines, or click for Equipment on each line to select the asset. You cannot enter a quantity greater than 1 or a negative quantity for an asset line.

To bin—Click to select the bin to which to transfer the part.
Lot—Click to select the lot of the part to transfer.
Price—Enter the price of the part to transfer as necessary.

Datastream 7i automatically populates Price with the base price of the part in the receiving store. You can modify Price as necessary. |
Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i assigns a transaction number and saves the information to the database.
