> Defining Regular Work Order Headers

Create headers for regular work orders. Headers include basic information about the work orders.

Follow these steps to define regular work order headers.

  1. Open the Work orders form (WMJOBS).

  2. Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.

  3. Work order—Enter a description of the work needed in the adjacent field, and then click in the far-right field to select the organization to which the work order belongs if you use multi-organization security. Datastream 7i assigns a work order number after you save the record.

  4. Equipment—Click to select the equipment on which to perform the work.

  5. Project—Click to select the project and the project budget.

You cannot select a frozen Project.

  1. Department—Click to select the department.

  2. WO type—Click to select the work order type.

  3. Status—Click to select the work order status.

  4. Complete the following steps on the WO details subpage:

  5. Class—Click to select the class of the work order. The classes shown belong to the EVNT entity.

  6. Priority—Click to select the priority of the work order.

  7. Problem code—Click to select the code to identify the type of problem.

  8. Parent work order—Click to select the parent work order, if applicable.

  9. Standard WO—Click to select the standard work order if it has been stored in the system library. Datastream 7i copies the standard work order activities to the current work order.

If the work order is a child work order, Datastream 7i displays the Triggering event with the same step and sequence combination as that of the trigger step and trigger sequence for this work order. The status of the triggering event affects the status of the work order to which the triggering event is attached. Update the triggering event as necessary.

  1. Dependent—Select to keep the work order open until all child work orders are completed.

You can select Dependent only if you enter a Parent work order.

  1. Requested by—Click to select the employee requesting the work.

  2. Shift—Click to select the shift during which the work was requested.

  3. Click the Equipment tab. Datastream 7i displays the Equipment subpage.

  4. Location—Click to select the location of the work to be done.

  5. Criticality—Click to select the criticality of the equipment in the work request. Create criticality codes via the OBCR entity on the Entities form (BNENTS), and then link criticality codes to equipment via the Equipment form (OMOBJC).

  6. CN number—Click to select the change notice number of the equipment.

  7. Last value—Enter the usage of the equipment at the time of the work order.

  8. Cost code—Click to select the cost code of the work order.

  9. Target value—Enter the estimated maximum cost for the work order.

  10. Safety—Select if this work requires special safety precautions.

  11. Warranty—Select if the Equipment is under manufacturer warranty. Datastream 7i automatically selects Warranty if the Equipment is associated with an active warranty. You can unselect Warranty as necessary.

Datastream 7i does not automatically select Warranty if the warranty is associated with any VMRS codes. If Warranty is selected on the work order header, Datastream 7i considers the warranty coverage as a "bumper-to-bumper" warranty that is applicable to all of the activities on the work order.

  1. Click the Schedule tab. Datastream 7i displays the Schedule subpage.

  2. Date/time reported—Enter the date and time that the problem was reported.

  7. Assigned to—Click to select the person responsible for the work order.

  8. Requested start date and Requested end date—Enter the starting and ending dates for the work order. Otherwise, Datastream 7i generates a schedule based on the Target (generally the current date) plus the Duration.
