> Generating Daily Schedules

Schedule activities on a daily basis. Review the schedule at the end of each day to schedule tomorrow’s work or at the beginning of each day to schedule the current day’s work.

You can also schedule work orders on the Activities page of the Work orders form (WMJOBS).

If you schedule someone for two activities, Datastream 7i displays a warning but allows you to continue with the scheduling process. However, if Datastream 7i detects that you have scheduled the same equipment for two work orders at the same time, it does not let you schedule the work.

If you are using qualification enforcement, you can only schedule an employee to perform the selected work order activity if the qualifications defined for the employee on the Qualification page of the Personnel form (WNPERS) match all of the qualifications associated with the selected work order activity. Qualification enforcement is determined by the WOQUAL installation parameter.

If you are not using qualification enforcement, you can associate qualifications with work order activities, but Datastream 7i will not validate any associated qualifications when you schedule an employee for work.

Additionally, the qualifications for the employee must be active. An employee’s qualification is active only if Qualified is selected for the qualification on the personnel record. To be qualified for the work, the person must have the qualification on their employee record, the Scheduled date for the work order activity must fall between the Start date and Expiration date for the qualification, and Temporarily disqualified must be unselected for the qualification.

If no Scheduled date is entered for the work order activity, then Datastream 7i uses the system date to determine whether an employee is qualified. Additionally, if you have already selected a Person responsible for the work order activity, and then you enter a Scheduled date, Datastream 7i will revalidate whether the employee selected for Person responsible is qualified to perform the work order activity based on the date entered.

Follow these steps to generate daily schedules.

  1. Open the Daily scheduling form (WDDSCH).

  2. Query for work order activities using the details in the top section. Datastream 7i displays the work order activities.

  3. Select a work order activity, and then click Schedule. Datastream 7i displays the activity in the lower section and inserts the current date as the Scheduled date.

Complete the scheduling information in the lower section pf the form.

Schedule an activity for one or more days, depending on the work to be done and the number of people needed to perform the work. If the work is not completed on the day scheduled, schedule the remaining hours for another day. You can delete schedules for activities in the future; however, schedules before the current date cannot be deleted since Datastream 7i uses them for historical and reporting purposes.

  1. Person responsible—Click to select the employee to perform the activity on the scheduled date.

To assign the activity to a shift instead of to an individual employee, Leave Person responsible empty.

If you are using qualification enforcement, Datastream 7i enables you to only select employees who are qualified to perform the work based on the list of qualifications required for the selected work order activity and the Scheduled date for the work order activity.

  1. Shift—Click to select the shift to perform the activity on the scheduled date.

  2. Scheduled date—Enter the date for which to schedule the activity. You cannot schedule work for any date earlier than today’s date.

  3. Hours required—Enter the estimated number of hours for the task or the collective time scheduled for several workers.

  4. Date last calculated—View the date on which Datastream 7i last calculated labor availability, and then click Refresh labor availability. Datastream 7i recalculates the labor availability.

Datastream 7i displays the value in Hours in red if the number of hours assigned to an employee or shift is greater than the available number of hours for the employee or shift on the scheduled date.

  1. Start time and End time—Enter the start and end times for the activity.

  2. Maintenance equipment—Click to select the auxiliary equipment needed for the task, i.e., the equipment is not used in production.

  3. Comment—Enter any additional information relating to the daily scheduling entry.

  4. Dept—Click to select the department of the person identified as Person responsible.

If tools are required for this activity, Tools is selected.

  1. Click Comments to enter additional comments about the schedule. Datastream 7i displays the Comments dialog box. The Comments dialog box retains the permissions defined for the tab from which it is invoked.

  2. Review and edit the work order activity comments as necessary.

  3. Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.

You are only allowed to update a work order if you are authorized to do so.
