> Defining Inspection Aspects

Define codes to represent specific aspects to measure. Measure one or multiple aspects against standards or gauges.

Although you can define additional time dependence codes on the Installation codes form (BNINST), Datastream 7i only uses the linearly increasing or decreasing codes for internal calculations.

Follow these steps to define inspection aspects.

  1. Open the Inspection aspects form (INASPC).

  2. Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.

  3. Aspect—Enter a unique code identifying the inspection aspect, and then enter a description in the adjacent field.

  4. Parent—Click to select the parent for the aspect.

  5. Class—Click to select the class of the aspect. The classes shown belong to the ASPC entity.

  6. Time dependency—Click to select Linearly increasing or Linearly decreasing. The time dependence parameter is used to calculate when equipment will exceed safety margins.

  7. Out of service—Select to indicate that Datastream 7i does not use this aspect.

  8. Random result—Select to indicate that Datastream 7i permits entry of measurements without requiring an associated inspection point. This result is applicable for the inspection result API and the Result page on the Monitored data form (IMMONT).

  9. Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
