> Entering Inspection Results

Perform the inspection after completing the data setup for inspections and after creating work orders for the routes. Enter the results of the inspection into the system after the employee performs the inspection.

You cannot delete inspection findings after associating them with classes or inspection results.

Choose one of the following options when entering inspection results:

The status of the inspection is Unfinished until you enter inspection results into the system. After adding all information, you can update the status from Unfinished to Ready for processing. Once you update the status, you cannot make any changes. If you want to cancel the inspection, change the status to Canceled. Datastream 7i processes inspections when you run the Approval of inspection points form (IRAPRF) and then changes the status to Approved/Processed.

Follow these steps to enter inspection results.

  1. Open the Inspection results form (IDRSLT).

  2. Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.

  3. Query for the work order, the PM, or the route for which to enter inspection results.

  4. Click the Inspection results tab. Datastream 7i displays the Inspection results page and the related inspection points. Datastream 7i obtains the Sequence number, Type, Equipment, Point type, and Point information from the work order records if available.

If you are entering ad hoc results, Datastream 7i generates sequence numbers when you save the information.

  1. Class—Click to select the inspection class. The classes shown belong to the INRL entity.

  2. Choose one or both of the following options:

  1. Result—Click to select the reliability code for the inspection (this code is also used in regression analysis). Choose one of the following options:

  1. Modify Aspect, Type, Equipment, Point type, Point, and Method as necessary.

  2. Inspected—Click to select the code identifying the individual performing the inspection.

  3. Location—Enter a text description of the location at which the inspection was performed.

  4. Standard work order—Click to select the standard work order associated with the inspection.

  5. New work order required—Select to generate a work order based on the inspection results.

  6. Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.

  7. Click Create now to generate the work order immediately. For an existing route inspection, Datastream 7i uses the standard work order specified on the Monitored data form (IMMONT). If you did not specify a standard work order, Datastream 7i creates a general work order based on the inspection results and inserts the work order number for Work order. Use the Work orders form (WMJOBS) to update the new work order description and to make any other necessary refinements.

  8. Comment—Enter any additional information about the inspection results.

  9. Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
