Joint efficiency is used to calculate minimum allowable thickness (MAT) for pipes. Define joint efficiency by associating the pipe’s nominal pipe size (outer diameter) to the joint efficiency defined by the external reference material.
Follow these steps to define joint efficiency for piping classes.
Open the Piping classes form (IMPIPC).
Query for the piping class for which to define joint efficiency.
Click the Joint efficiency tab. Datastream 7i displays the Joint efficiency page.
Pipe size (mm)—Enter the size of the outer diameter of the pipe in millimeters.
Schedule—Enter the ratio relationship between stress and diameter.
Joint efficiency—Enter an estimate of integrity of the piping joints compared with piping itself.
Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
