The budget breakdown identifies the order in which to define budget details later in the setup process. The budget breakdown does not affect the capturing and presenting of information for analysis or data tracking.
Follow these steps to define budget breakdown.
Open the Budget hierarchy form (UMBSTR).
Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.
Budget code—Enter a unique code identifying the budget, and then enter a description of the budget in the adjacent field.
Organization—Click to select the organization to which the budget structure belongs if you use multi-organization security.
Parent budget—Click to select the parent budget, if applicable. When specifying a parent budget, Datastream 7i copies the parent calendar and budget breakdown. Do not change this information.
Calendar—Click to select a budget calendar to use with the budget structure if a parent budget is not in use.
Complete the following step in the Budget Hierarchy section of the form:
Enter sequential numbers in the boxes, indicating the budget detail order. Enter the budget breakdown only if a parent budget is not in use. Period is the only required entity, and it must be numbered 1. Use many or few of the other categories, depending on how detailed you want the budget to be.
Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
