Create batches of work orders to import into MS Project by creating planning sessions in Datastream 7i. You can also send resource information to MS Project with the scheduling session.
Follow these steps to create planning sessions in Datastream 7i.
Open the Microsoft Project selection form (RMMSPR).
Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.
Session—Enter a description of the scheduling project in the adjacent field, and then click to select the organization to which the session belongs if you use multi-organization security. Datastream 7i assigns a session number when you save the record.
Include child equip—Select to include work orders for any children of equipment included on work orders in the planning session.
Monitoring session—Select to create a monitoring session instead of a planning session.
|
If you select Monitoring session, Datastream 7i does not lock the records, and you cannot export updated records from MS Project to Datastream 7i. |
Group selection—Select to enter multiple departments, pieces of equipment, or projects as criteria for which work orders will be included in the session.
|
If Group selection is selected, Datastream 7i displays the Scheduling groups dialog box after you click Create session. Click to select the Entity (department, equipment, or project), and then click to select the Code of the department, equipment, or project. Click to exit the Scheduling groups dialog box and return to the MS Project selection form. |
Choose one or more of the following as criteria for work orders to include in the session:
Equipment—Click to select a piece of equipment.
Equipment class—Click to select an equipment class.
Department—Click to select a department.
WO type—Click to select a work order type.

Trade—Click to select a trade.
Priority—Click to select a work order priority.
Project—Click to select a project.
Date from and Date to—Enter the range of dates in which the Target date of work order must fall to be included in the session.
|
You must enter at least one Department, Project, or piece of Equipment. |
Employee—Select to export employee details with the session. Datastream 7i will export all employees in the database.
Maintenance equipment—Select to export information about auxiliary maintenance equipment, e.g., work resources used to complete maintenance such as cranes or forklifts. Datastream 7i will export all auxiliary equipment in the database.
|
Maintenance equipment does not have Production selected on the Equipment form (OMOBJC). |
Tools—Select to export tools with the session. Datastream 7i will export all tools in the database.
Suppliers—Select to export supplier information with the session. Datastream 7i will export all suppliers for which Services is selected on the Suppliers form (SMSUPP).
|
If multi-organization security is turned on, the records included in the session must match the session organization or a common organization. |
Click Create session. Datastream 7i lists all work orders that match the criteria on the Activities page and locks those work orders for planning. The Project status then changes to In progress.
Review the included work orders and activities on the Activities page and the included resource information on the Employee, Maintenance equipment, Tools, and Suppliers pages. Click on the toolbar to delete a selected record on any of these pages.
Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.
Project status—Click to select Ready to export.
Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
