These methods bypass most security measures and stock verifications; therefore, Datastream strongly recommends that you use these forms only when initially setting up your database or store. Use the User groups form (BMGROU) to restrict the Stock in bins form (SNSTBN) to query only and to restrict access to the Rapid entry of stock items per store form (SDREST).
Parts may be entered directly into inventory using one of two methods:
Initializing Stock
Defining Stock in Bins
If you are using FIFO or LIFO as your pricing method, Datastream 7i creates a receipt transaction that automatically updates and inserts records into the R5BINSTOCK and R5FIFO tables when you enter a part directly into inventory using either the Rapid entry of stock items per store form (SDREST) or the Stock in bins form (SNSTBN) to ensure that the appropriate unit price is used for each subsequent issue transaction. Because receipt transactions require a supplier, Datastream 7i automatically inserts an asterisk (*) as the supplier for the receipt.
Refer to the following topics for information on entering parts directly into inventory.
