> Setting Up PM Fixed Calendar Dates

Often work is done on an annual basis. For example, some equipment needs to be lubricated every year. Set up fixed calendar dates for PM work orders to ensure work completion.

After setting up PM fixed calendar dates, attach equipment to the PM schedule on the Equipment tab of the Preventive maintenance schedules form (WMPPMS). You can also update meter readings for equipment for PM schedules on the Equipment of PM form (WDJOBP). Refer to Updating PM Equipment. Use the Release all PM work orders before specified date form (WBPEVU) to generate the PM work orders.

If you have specified a dormant period for equipment when you release PM work orders for PM fixed calendar dates for equipment, Datastream 7i temporarily postpones the release of the next PM work order for a fixed PM if the due date for the PM falls within the specified dormant period. Refer to Defining Equipment for PM Routines.

Datastream 7i automatically extends the next due date for the fixed PM by adding time to the due date in the increment of the PM period until the due date for the PM is greater than the specified Dormant end date for the equipment associated with the PM.

Adding a dormant period to PM equipment does not affect any previously created or released PM work orders, and you can manually release any temporarily postponed PM work orders on the Release selected work orders form (WNRELJ).

Follow these steps to set up PM fixed calendar dates.

  1. Open the Preventive maintenance schedules form (WMPPMS).

  2. Query for the PM schedule.

  3. Click the Calendar tab. Datastream 7i displays the Calendar page.

  4. Type—Click to select the equipment type.

  5. Equipment—Click to select the equipment to which the fixed date applies.

  6. Date—Enter the fixed date on which to perform the work. This fixed date takes precedence over the frequency defined in the PM schedule details.

  7. Reuse—Select to generate a PM work order for the equipment on the same date for the following years.

  8. Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
