Transfer assets between organizations within your enterprise. Datastream 7i enables you to transfer assets between organizations in several different ways, depending on the Status of the asset and the nature of the transfer you wish to complete.
Some assets are installed and other assets (parts tracked by asset) are sometimes held in store/bin locations. Refer to "Defining Equipment as Parts" earlier in this chapter. Therefore, Datastream 7i processes the transfer of installed equipment between organizations in a different manner than it processes the transfer of parts tracked by asset between organizations.
If you are transferring common organization parts between stores within the same organization, transfer the parts on the Store-to-store issues (SMSTOS) or on the Store-to-store transfer form (SDSTOR). You can also use the Store-to-store issues (SMSTOS) and Store-to-store transfer (SDSTOR) forms to transfer common organization parts tracked by asset between stores within your organization.
The Asset transfer form (OXTRAS) enables you to transfer equipment linked to parts that are specific or common, but only for assets for which the Status of the asset is Installed.
The By asset part transfer form (SXTRAS) enables you to transfer assets linked to a common part for which the Status of the asset is either In store, Purchased/in store, or To be repaired.

Regardless of the Status of an asset (the asset by which a part is tracked), you can only transfer common organization by asset parts between organizations. You cannot transfer specific organization by asset parts between organizations. However, the asset you are transferring can belong to either a specific or common organization. |
Generate an overview of asset transfer information using the Asset transfer log report (ORTRAS). The Asset transfer log report has been modified to include the ability to generate reports for asset transfers involving parts tracked by asset. The Asset transfer log report (ORTRAS) prints an overview of information related to equipment transfers between organizations initiated on the Asset transfer form (OXTRAS) and the By asset part transfer form (SXTRAS). If the transferred equipment has any child equipment, Datastream 7i also prints an overview of the child equipment.
