> Creating the Risk Focus

The risk focus is a general area of emphasis with respect to potential risks of equipment or process failure. You can apply a risk focus to a type of equipment (rotating), function (assembly line), or external association (regulatory). Each risk focus has a value called the critical value, which is based on a calculation using a hierarchy of items (decision tree) that contribute to an overall risk assessment. You must determine which contributing items to include in critical value calculations. Calculate critical value for a risk focus that is specifically linked to equipment, equipment classes, or equipment categories.

First, define the risk focus code. Then, define the decision tree to give equipment a numerical rank.
