Define major projects and create as many levels of subprojects as needed. Define parent projects and budget codes before defining subprojects. For example, if the major project is building a new road, set up a project for the road construction, and then define individual steps for each subproject, such as surveys, excavation, infrastructure, paving, seal coating, and painting.
Once the project is approved, the budget is considered to be the original amount. Update the amount later if the budget changes; Datastream 7i retains the original value and stores revision information against that amount. Any changes to labor and material estimates for subprojects are validated against the major project budget. If estimates exceed the set budget, Datastream 7i displays a warning message.
If you are using multi-organization security (MOS), Datastream 7i enables you to create master projects in a common organization with which you can associate subprojects from different specific organizations. Subprojects and project-related work orders must be associated with specific organizations. You can then accrue project costs, work orders, booked hours, and material issues to the master project from the subprojects.

The currency of the master project and any subprojects must be the same. |
