Create warranties to establish supplier or manufacturer warranty information for assets. Create warranty claims to process and file claims for costs covered by supplier or manufacturer warranty. Many suppliers or manufacturers provide a warranty on new or used equipment for a specific period of time or for a specified period of use.
You can create warranty claims at both the work order header and the work order activity level. If a work order has multiple activities, you can create a work order level claim or a claim for each work order activity.
You can also create warranties that are based upon either calendar periods or equipment usage, or you can create warranties that are based upon both. For example, you can create a five-year, 50,000-mile warranty for an automobile in your fleet. If you are using dual warranty expiration criteria, Datastream 7i automatically terminates a warranty whenever one of the expiration conditions is reached.
